It's unlikely that you'd plan to come to Amsterdam to visit the theatre or opera. Unless you speak Dutch it could be a frustrating experience.
Most of the performances will be in Dutch and the event calendar rarely shows exceptions from this rule. However there are some notably good acts to see in comedy and cabaret. One venue not to miss for those interested is Boom Chicago, with American-style stand up comedy. There is no reason to feel you're missing out, though - Amsterdam is not...
